Introduction to the Army Tactical Knives

The term applies to almost all tactical knife designed specifically for military or combat. The first tactical knife designed for the military have been introduced during the Second World War. The original plan for the KA-BAR, the most common tactical knife used in various branches of the armed forces, was introduced in 1942. The prototype model was initially rejected for use by the armed forces. An updated model was produced in1945, that the fighting has met the requirements and the KA-BAR was rapidly introduced into the traffic. Many of these knives originals and replicas are still in use and the KA-BAR knife, the primary choice for the USMC.

During the Vietnam Special Operations Group (also called the group of studies and observations) department of the army is formed. This new elite group of fighters called for a knife that is unmarked and hard to find in a country of origin and the SOGknife was born. The SOG knife was designed by Benjamin Baker, who is currently serving as deputy chief of counter-insurgency the United States. The SOG knife has a convex fake clip point Bowie knife tip. E 'was made of hardened steel, known as SKS-3 and hardened to Rockwell hardness factor to meet the range of 55 to 57.

These knives were produced exclusively in Japan and a few thousand found their way into service during the '60s and '70s. In the year 1980SOG Knife Company was formed and began to replicate the original SOG knife to produce. Most of the replicas have been made to the specifications of the originals produced during the Vietnam War, but counterparts commemorative coins made of stainless steel of the knife bearing the insignia of the original place of employment were also produced.

KA-BAR Knives SOG and remain popular throughout the armed forces today, other non-traditional produce, however, like Gerber are beginning to develop theirVersions of tactical knives.
